The health and safety officers are responsible for increasing the awareness of members, safety representatives and branch officers of health and safety issues. They must organise the information held by the branch on health and safety and co-ordinate the activity of health and safety representatives by organising regular meetings of health and safety representatives to exchange information and consider priorities. They are closely involved in all negotiations with the University on matters related to health and safety. The health and safety officers must advise the branch committee on health and safety issues arising in the branch and make recommendations on policies and priorities.
