Bicycle Action Group

Bike stands at Calcutta House – UNISON and UCU are campaigning for better cycling facilities at London Met

The Bicycle Action Group is a joint union campaign to support cyclists at London Metropolitan University.

The Cycle to Work scheme is a tax incentive scheme which allows employees to benefit from the long term loan of a bike and commuting equipment completely tax free.

See our December 2009 newsletter, where we first report on our successful campaign to introduce the scheme and read our April 2010 Bulletin on the implementation of a university Cycle to Work scheme for more information.  It was launched at the University in Green Britain Bike Week 2010 on 22 June at North campus and 23 June at City.

The government backed scheme is open to all employees who cycle between work locations, to work, or part way to work (i.e. to the station).  The University has engaged the services of a third party provider, Cyclescheme, to provide staff with the means to benefit from the initiative.

This is just one example of how we achieve more collectively than we can individually…
