Stewards are taking photos this week of members with a placard which reads ‘I’m Voting YES to Protect my Pension’. So don’t be shy if your local rep asks if they can snap you at your desk, and get in touch if you want to help his campaign. These photos are also appearing on our (members only) Facebook Group.

Firstly thanks to all those that attended this years Summer Social. It was a highly successful and well attended outing.

We travelled to Southend by train from London Liverpool Street and arrived just in time for lunch. Those that had brought children along headed straight for the seafront and the rest of us stayed for a spot of lunch in the town centre. After satisfying our tummies we journeyed to the sea front. We were lucky enough to have the weather on our side, although the sea remained a tad on the cold side!

After an invigorating paddle we revisited our youth and ventured into the adventure playground where some members braved the rides. Others kept their feet on the ground and passed the time eating ice-cream and candy floss as well as enjoying the pirate shows in celebration of the forthcoming International Speak Like a Pirate Day.

The large group then split with some travelling down to the nearby town of Leigh-on-Sea and the rest of us staying in Southend where we tucked into some delicious fish’n’chips on the beach.

A group of us went on to play a few team building games of 10 pin bowling and pool. Exhausted by our fun filled day of activities it was then our mission to find a pub!

Overall a fantastic time was had by all, where will we go next year?
